Mt Beauty began with a purpose. Built in the 1940s and '50s to house workers for the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme, it was a hardworking town that later found a new calling as the gateway to Victoria's alpine country. As Falls Creek grew, work boots made way for snow boots, and classic motels like the Allamar welcomed generations of skiers, hikers, cyclists, and travellers looking for a comfortable place to rest after a day in the mountains.
When Chris and Lizzy discovered the Allamar, they saw more than a motel—they saw potential. Together, they're slowly transforming it into a place filled with warmth, personality and thoughtful touches. Lizzy brings over 25 years of hospitality experience and a passion for bringing people together through great food, while Chris has an eye for the beautifully unusual and spaces that tell a story.
Today, the Allamar is a little different to your average motel. Local art, artisan products, quirky collections and mountain views sit alongside comfortable rooms and genuine hospitality.
